Educational outcome with respect to KNOWLEDGE – PhD candidate /graduate:

  • provides detailed and advanced explanation of the studied processes and mechanisms in the area of cell and molecular neurobiology, biochemistry, cell biology, neurophysiology or neuropsychology, bioinformatics or neuroinformatics,
  • disseminates among the society reliable information regarding science and its achievements, without ignoring its limitations,
  • considers scientific output to be the personal good of its author, but at the same time the common good,
  • identifies current problems in biology based on the knowledge gained from scientific publications,
  • identifies current scientific problems, especially still unsolved in the area of biology,
  • explains the relationship between biology, medicine and science and between individual biological disciplines,
  • is able to describe the methodology and research techniques of the studied discipline,
  • knows how to apply for funding for scientific research from various sources at the regional, national and international levels,
  • knows scientific terminology,
  • is able to characterize philosophical schools and views.

 

Educational outcome with respect to SKILLS – PhD candidate/graduate:

  • plans and conducts scientific research,
  • applies biological theories to his/her scientific research,
  • conducts scientific research without violating human dignity and humanitarian principles,
  • uses various sources of information,
  • interprets the results of own research using statistical analysis,
  • uses novel research techniques,
  • promotes the principles of solid research work, never compromising scientific reliability or violating decency,
  • is sufficiently fluent in his/her mother tongue and in English to write scientific articles, present the results of scientific work in presentations and posters and communicate with foreigners,
  • prepares his/her PhD thesis and following positive reviews presents the results during a public defence,
  • is able to independently design scientific research, draft an application for financing and execute a research project,
  • prepares applications to finance his/her participation in scientific conferences, workshops, etc.,
  • is able to explain scientific knowledge in academic as well as popular discourse in his/her mother tongue as well as in English.

 

Educational outcome with respect to SOCIAL COMPETENCIES – PhD candidate/graduate:

  • understands the need for intensive self-education, especially in his/her discipline,
  • acknowledges the need to update his/her knowledge regarding laboratory and research techniques and their application in scientific research,
  • understands the social implications of being a researcher,
  • is able to critically evaluate his/her own scientific work and achievements as well as the input of others,
  • ensures that criticism, discussion and scientific discourse is conducted in a respectful, matter-of-fact and reliable manner,
  • observes the principles of research ethic and good practise in scientific work,
  • strengthens team work, especially in research,
  • accepts responsibility for the safety of own work and the work of others,
  • is involved in the activities of his/her scientific community and develops contacts with the international research community,
  • observes the international rules and conventions regarding common responsibility of researchers.
